  • Dr. Gajanan Shripat Khair (Shri. Annasaheb Khair) Born on 15/06/1898
  • Shri Vishnu Gangadhar Ketkar, a stupendous personality and a founder of Pune Vidyarthi Griha
  • He worked untiringly and gave away mind, body and soul for the institution.
  • He won over many well-wishers and grew public relation.
  • He became the father of many poor and orphan children coming from different parts of Maharashtra .
  • He kept a keen eye on the students as well as the arrangement of the orphanage.
  • Some of his teachings are to be truthful,be disciplined, avoid addiction, save money, be determinant, respect elders, work hard, wear simple clothes and avoid use of vehicles.
  • It made his students disciplined, independent, keen observant, punctual, sportive, regular, foresighted etc.

  • Incharge of PVG from 1950 to 1970.
  • Founder Principal and guide of Maharashtra Vidyalaya.
  • In service of PVG for 50 years and retired by donating Rs. 50 thousand to PVG.
  • Worked as a Professor to teach comparative Education for M.Ed. classes at Pune, Mumbai, Karnataka,Baroda, Nagpur Marathwada & Shivaji University and worked as a guide for Ph.D.
  • Contributed in education in the institutions like Mumbai University,Senet,Pune University court, S.S.C Board, Secondary Education Board,Education Commission
    Task Force, Primary Teachers Organisation for Mumbai Region,Teacher’s and Headmaster’s Federation, Government Textbook & curriculum Research Bureau.
  • Member of state of Legislative Assembly from 1952 to 1958.
  • Visited and observed education system at America, England, Russia , Germany, France, Italy,Switzerland, Japan etc.
  • Many lectures, articles, treatise on travel education, Geeta, Good conduct. etc

1906 to 1909
Worked in Rashtriya Vidyagriha of Shri Babasaheb Paranjpe at Yavatmal on the advice of Honourable Dadasaheb Khaparde .
1909
Editor of ‘ Rashtramat’.
November 1909
Joined PVG established in May 1909.
1913
Started Shriram Library – free of cost .
1914
Instituted Rashtriya Pathshala to follow Lokmnaya Tilak’s four fold program.
8th February 1915
Opened a shop of Swadeshi goods
19th July 1915
Mahatma Gandhi visited the institution and expressed satisfaction.
29th November 1917
Lokmanya Tilak visited the institution and gave blessings.
23rd March 1918
Laid foundation stone of a school at Chinchwad branch.
12th June 1918
Inauguration of the school at Chinchwad at the hand of Mahatma Gandhi.
March 1921
Established Maharashtra Vidyalaya – in charge Dr. Annasaheb Khair.
1926
Drew a plan to give industrial education to students.
17th May 1926
Set up Nasik Branch as well as sanitorium at Mhasrul.
1936
Purchased ‘ Maharashtra Vidyalaya received approval from MumbaiUniversity

Death of Mrs. Ramabai Ketkar,his wife .
8th December 1936
Shri Babasheb Ghorpade from Ichalkaranji feliciated Dadasaheb and sold his ‘Parvati Garden’ at a lower price to Dadasaheb .
6th December 1939
PVG got registered .

Published a magazine called Progress of Education.

Lokasangraha Works was charred to coal in riots after an assassination of Mahatma Gandhi .
Dr Gajanan Shripat Khair is also Known as Shri Annasaheb Khair.

Annasaheb Khair is an another devoted and dedicated founder of PVG.
Led life in great poverty and so joined Annath Vidyarthi Griha for education and served the institution out of obligation.
He set an example before the students as a hard working teacher who always engaged himself in one or other activity denying the offer from abroad.
He preached students to be alert, optmistic, confident, introspective, industrious ambitious, to be disciplined, neat, grow public relation and have quest for knowledge.
