History of Vidyabhawan Primary (English Medium)
The Primary section of Vidyabhawan commenced in the academic year 1977-78 with a strength of just 26 students. It was headed by the young and dynamic Smt. Pushpa Subramaniam. She was a person with a strong vision, an able administrator and a good decision-maker. Her objectives were clear and she put all her efforts to achieve them. She even went house-to-house urging the parents to take admission for their wards in Vibyabhawan. She left no stone unturned and wholeheartedly pursued her dream which was the growth and glory of Vidyabhawan. She along with Shri. M. N. Muzumdar and Shri. K. N. Shirkande worked painstakingly and their dreams indeed came true. Soon Vidyabhawan was the most sought-after school in Ghatkopar. The divisions had to be increased in order to accommodate the students and cater to the growing demand. The best teachers were appointed and they too poured their lives in maintaining the standard and the reputation of the institution. After the retirement of Smt. Pushpa Subramaniam in the year 2002, Smt, Angelina James Coutinho took over the reins of Primary English and continued the tradition of success. She too guided her teachers and strove for the betterment of the students. Due to the strong efforts more and more students started acquiring the merit rank in the Primary-School –Certificate Examination. The school progressed by leaps and bounds. However, owing to the untimely demise of Smt. Angelina Coutinho on 10th June 2010, Smt. Shubhangi Jadhav presently heads the Team- Primary English. As of now there are 12 divisions in the primary section and almost 800 students who are under its wings and to impart quality education to them is our prime objective.

Vidyabhawan Primary Highlights (English Medium)

Independence day is celebrated every year by the students of primary in a grand manner. The children present group songs, speeches and other cultural items related to freedom struggle and independence |

Students appear various competitive exams like Vidyapeeth, IPM, IPE, Scholarships to name a few every year |

Health camps and lectures are organized by the school for the benefit of the students and parents as well |
| 4. |
Drawing class, UCMAAS and YLE classes are conducted in order to improve the skills of the students in Drawing, Mathematics and English language respectively |

A chain of Bus parents is also formed as a part of the Disaster management plan to ensure proper co-ordination and minimize panic amongst parents at times of sudden closure of school due to unavoidable circumstances |

In-service training is regularly conducted for the teachers in order to keep pace with the modern and updated trends of education |
History of Vidyabhawan Primary (Marathi Medium)
The Primary Marathi medium of Vidyabhawan commenced in the year 1978 with a strength of just 26 students. Smt. Rukmini Dikshit and Mrs. Nayana Satardekar were the first persons who put in all their efforts and gave primary Marathi a strong foundation. Later with Smt. Dikshit as the Headmistress, the school prospered and soon came to be recognized as one of the best schools to impart education through the mother-tongue. The strength of the students rose year after year and currently almost 600 students take admission. The section has also bagged the “ Adarsh Shala Puraskaar “ by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. Smt. Vandana Gokhale succeeded as the next Headmistress in the year 2008. She too with her deep administrative skills is leading her team of dedicated teachers and section is getting better day after day. Semi-English classes too are conducted and care is taken to ensure that their students do not lag behind than their counterparts. English subject has also a compulsory part of the syllabus and hence English is no more a hurdle in the progress of the students of the vernacular medium

Vidyabhawan Primary Highlights (Marathi Medium)
- Students of 2nd standard participated in the program “Kill Bill” on Doordarshan held on 18th July 1995. They demonstrated their work in the show “Sananche Nrutya” and “Shakti Sadhan” under the guidance of Mrs. Vandana Gokhale, Headmistres The students of 4th standard achieved the 4th position during an inter-school dance competition
- In the year 1997, students won the 3rd prize in the group singing event
- Increasing number of students are gaining merits in the scholarship exams conducted each year
- Shivani Choudhari, a student of standard 4th, received 2nd prize on zonal level and her work was appreciated on the national level in a Drawing competition
- Primary-Marathi section was a proud recipient of “Ideal School Award – 2009”
- Mrs. Dikshit, the now retired Headmistress of Primary – Marathi section received the Mayor's award in 2007-2008.
- The Headmistress Smt. Vandana Gokhale has bagged the Mayor’s award on 5th September 2010.
