Vidya Bhawan highschool became renowned in a short span of thirteen years. There was a growing demand from the parents to start junior college in the school.To avail this facility the school started Vidya Bhawan Junior College in 1991 for Science stream with one division of 60 students under the able leadership of the dynamic enterpriser, Principal Shri K. N. Shirkande.
The first year was a unique experience for the teachers in setting up time table, laboratories, cultural activities and other administrative work. The second year emerged with the shifting of Junior College to the newly built 5th floor .The generous donation of Rs. One Lakh for Physics Laboratory, by Mrs Pushpa Subramanium in memory of her husband Shri K. R. Subramanium benefitted greatly to the students. In the year 1992 there were two divisions of eleven standard comprising 120 students and one division of twelfth standard of 60 students. Gradually the number of students increased. The college gained recognition and identity.
In the year 1994-95 Master Jignesh Patel appeared for Mathematics Olympiad and accomplished it successfully. Miss Swati Kulkarni secured 14 th rank in the Merit list in the HSC Examination held in 1997.Many students performed excellently in HSC Examination. Abhijit Shirkande got 100/100 in Physics, Sashikant Yadav 99/100 in Biology, Balaji Ramcandra 99/100 in Chemistry, Sainy Jasvinder Kaur 98/100 in Physics.Many other students like Barnali Bhattacharya, Vipul Patel, Abhishek Shirkande, Nandi Govardhan, Abhijit Manjrekar Manish Pendse, Ram Prasad, Kirti Holla, Meera Krishnamurthy, Ishita Gupta, Dhawal Gandhi added feathers in the cap of Vidya Bhawan.
The passing percentage of the college rose to 92% in a short span. Many meritorious students are pursuing careers in medicine, engineering, defense etc. The college has grown with the time and presently there are 13 teachers and 320 students in General Science
Along with the academic achievements the college is in the fore-front in the co-curricular activities too. The Marathi Play “ Aani Tyanantar” won Best Organised Team Award in Purushottam Karandak held for the first time in Mumbai. Master Lalit Kothavde and Vispute Ajinkya won first and second prize respectively in Dadasaheb Ketkar Elocution competition.
The year 2008-2009 witnessed the beginning of Vocational Science introducing Computer Science and Electronics. Its details are found on that link.

- In memory of the founder member Kulguru Dadasaheb Ketkar Intercollegiate Elocution Competition is held every year in the month of January.
- Cultural Activities- A Marathi Play ‘Aani Tyanantar’ directed by Mr. T.Y. Jankar, won ‘Best Organised Team Award’ in Purushottam Karandak held for the first time in Mumbai. College conducts Essay writing, elocution, poetry recitation, singing, dance competitions
- Sports
1) Master Parikshit Karve received second prize in regional level chess tournament.
2) Master Hitendra Pravin Golatkar (62kg.) and Hemant Keval Khairnar(77 kg.) bagged prize in weight- lifting competition
- Mrs Pushpa Subramanium donated Rs 1 lakh for Physics Laboratory in memory of her husband Late Shri K.R.Subramanium.

Vidya Bhawan Junior College ventured by starting vocational science in the year 2008 and received tremendous response. The subjects offered are Computer Science and Electronics.
In the year 2008 25 students each were enrolled for Computer Science and Electronics. In the year 2009 there was 1 division for eleven standard comprising 72 students
